WHAT WE BELIEVE IN.
Organic Principles.
We grow our produce using natural, organic principles. We will not use any form of synthetic chemicals including artificial pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Instead, we strive to use cultural, biological, and mechanical strategies to improve our plant health and manage pests.
Organic Non-GMO Seeds.
We strive to use only organic, non-genetically modified seeds. Currently, majority of our seeds are sourced locally from Botanical Interests, located in Broomfield, CO. The remaining organic seeds we source from Johnny’s Selected Seeds, as they “do not knowingly sell genetically modified seeds; nor do they breed new varieties using genetic engineering.”
No Till.
It all starts with soil health. Period. As Daniel Mays said, “The problems with tillage are severe and far-reaching.” By refraining from rototilling our soil, we can protect our soil’s ecosystems, increase the amount of carbon retained in the soil, protect our waterways downstream, increase organic matter, and reduce soil erosion.
Water Conservation.
Our farm only uses drip irrigation to water our produce and fruit trees. Drip irrigation ensures the water is applied directly into the soil where it’s needed - at the roots. We also redirect all of our used water, from our wash station, onto our lawn and perennial flower beds.
Food Security.
We believe everyone in our community should have equal access to high quality, nutritious food. We are in the process of educating ourselves on Colorado’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program to learn how we can accept SNAP payments. More information to come on this!
Cultivation.
We believe in the cultivation of healthy soil, the cultivation of healthy relationships, and the cultivation of a healthy community. And we believe small-scale, regenerative farming practices are at the center.
“The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.”
— Masanobu Fukuoka
